Review: Millennium Hilton Bangkok

Trip to Bangkok flying in Qatar Airways Dreamliner & A380 Business Class

Last month, Mike and I traveled to Bangkok where we spent four nights exploring the city. Our original flight on Qatar Airways was in economy class but luckily, we ended up being upgraded on 3 of the 4 flights. Thanks, Qatar Airways! As for our lounge access, we had to rely on my Air Berlin Gold card as operational upgrades do not grant lounge access, aside from the fact that our upgrades were given at the gate. The weather in Bangkok was not perfect as there was a bit of showers almost everyday but still, we were able to make the most of it. As I have Hilton Diamond status, we chose the Conrad Bangkok and Millennium Hilton Bangkok as our "home in Bangkok", both of which I highly recommend to everyone as they are two of the best hotels we have stayed at. It was a very short but memorable trip and I really hope to be back soon to one of the most amazing cities in the world, Bangkok!

Check-in

We arrived at the hotel around 12 noon and was greeted by Ms. Kanthamanee, the Front Office Manager. She then escorted us to the Executive Lounge located on the 31st floor where we were met by Nuna from the Executive Desk. We knew it was too early to check in but she said she would check if there is any room available for us. In the meantime, we were offered welcome drinks and towel by Annie, one of the lounge staff.

Moments later, Nuna was back and gladly informed us that they have a room ready for us. She informed us of the other things we needed to know including the opening hours for the Executive Lounge (and the dresscode), the pool, the breakfast buffet, etc.

Our room from the 25th floor was perfect giving us a fantastic view of the Chao Phraya River.

There was no welcome gift when we checked in (since it was too early) but when we returned from our city tour later in the afternoon, a fruit basket was waiting for us.

There was also a welcome note signed by the Director of Operations.

We were not able to visit the lounge during their afternoon tea on our first night of stay so we decided we would visit it the following day. Unlike other Hilton hotels, the afternoon tea here was not just self-serve buffet offering snacks but they also have a selection of breads, sandwiches and desserts all served to your table. It was my first time for such service and I loved it, needless to say!

Pre-evening Cocktail (5:30pm to 7:30pm)

From the cocktails available, I had a non-alcoholic drink called "Earth" which was fantastic!

CONCLUSION

Mike and I have been to Bangkok a few times now although it was our first time to stay at the Millennium Hilton Bangkok. The Front Office Manager personally escorting us to the Executive Lounge was very much appreciated and the fact that we could check in more than 2 hours early was impressive. The room we got was very nice with a fantastic view of the Chao Phraya River. The food and service in the Executive Lounge was just phenomenal. We were always offered a refill of drinks and our table cleared of used plates. The afternoon tea and evening cocktail food offering was one of the best we've seen, and the same is true with the breakfast buffet. The pool (although not comparable to that of Marina Bay Sands) was very nice and also offered amazing views. On the morning we were going to Ayutthaya, I approached the Front Office Manager to ask her for some recommendations and without any hesitation, she googled it for us and printed the whole itinerary, adding some personal advice. Thanks so much, Ms. Kanthamanee!

There is no doubt that we enjoyed our two night stay in this hotel and would definitely stay here again when we are back in Bangkok. To all the staff of Millennium Hilton Bangkok specially to Ms. Kanthamanee and Nuna, "Kob Khun Krap"!
