Turkish Airlines Arrivals Lounge

Upon clearing immigration, we headed straight to the Turkish Airlines Arrivals Lounge for some drinks.

Complimentary Hotel

Then, we approached the Hotel Desk located opposite the Arrivals Lounge and since we were eligible for a complimentary hotel (there was no shorter connection for Tallinn), we were asked to wait in the Arrivals Lounge. After 20 minutes or so, we were informed that we would be leaving for the hotel.

Turkish Airlines Hotel Transfer Shuttle

We were once again given the Renaissance Polat Istanbul where we stayed a few weeks ago.

This time though, we got a room with a very nice view 😍

Exploring Istanbul

Our flight to Tallinn was not until the following day so we decided to meet our very good Turkish friend (in Taksim Square) and explore a bit of the city.

Taksim Square

From Taksim Square, we took a stroll along Istiklal Caddesi up to Galata Bridge where we had late lunch in one of the restaurants under the bridge 😉 Below are some of the photos we took.

Istanbul Ataturk Airport

After a good night's sleep at the Renaissance Polat Istanbul, we took the hotel shuttle around 7am and were at the airport in no time at all.

Then, we headed to the Security and Immigration control which is connected to the lounge.

Turkish Airlines Business Lounge

Turkish Airlines Business Lounge

This time, they were offering Thai Cuisine although it was not really ready as they were still serving breakfast items.

Boarding, Gate 307

We left the lounge after 8:30am for the 8:45am boarding although it was not until 9:15 that they started boarding the passengers. Unfortunately, there was no priority boarding nor a separate bus for business class passengers. I guess it's always the case when the aircraft is in a remote stand 👎

Aircraft, Boeing 737-800 Manisa

Turkish Airlines Boeing 737-800 named Manisa which had flown from Isfahan, Iran earlier today.

Business Class Cabin

The business class cabin is from rows 1-4 in a 2-2 configuration. 9 of the 16 seats were occupied that day.

From the movie selection, I continued watching "Wizard of Lies".

Moments after settling in, we were offered some drinks.

I settled for a glass of water while Mike had his usual Limonata 😉

Then, we were offered some packaged Hazelnuts as well as newspapers.

Pushback was at 9:50am and moments later, Philips headphones were offered as well as the menu cards.

Taxiing

We had a nice take off around 10:20am and about 5 minutes later, one of the two flight attendants offered hot towels.

Dining

Menu card and beverage list

The flight attendants came to our seats to take our drinks order and when they came back, they served everything on a tray.

Breakfast

For my main course, I had the Traditional Black Sea Region Omelette which was great.

To end the meal service, coffee, tea and liquor were offered.

I had a cup of green tea, as usual.

Around 11:50am, the flight attendants started collecting the headphones and an announcement was made that we would be landing at 12:07pm.

Landing at Tallinn Airport

We landed at Tallinn Airport around 12:09pm and reached our gate 6 minutes later.

CONCLUSION

This is another flight where I thought the seat, meal and service were great. I loved the fact that the seats are modern as well as the IFE personal screen and controls. Of course, with DO&CO Catering, nothing could go wrong. Also, the crew on this flight were really friendly and did their best to make sure we had an enjoyable time. Unfortunately, the lack of priority boarding and separate bus for business class passengers was still an issue and hopefully, this problem would be resolved when they transfer to the new Airport which is scheduled to open later in October. Overall, a very nice flight.
