Me during our fjord cruise in 2010

First visit: November 2003
My Country #4

I have visited Norway a few times in the past and was fortunate enough to have toured a bit of Oslo and Bergen which for me are both fantastic cities. A stroll in Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its Hanseatic commercial buildings and taking a cruise to gaze at the magnificent fjords are two things you should do when in Bergen. When in Oslo, the modern architecture of the Opera House and the sculptures in the Vigeland Park are just as as unmissable 😍 I yet have to visit the Heddal Stave Church in Notodden (the largest stave church in Norway) and the Pulpit Rock in Ryfylke, but for now, here are some of my travel tips when visiting Oslo and Bergen:

Bryggen: This harbor district is actually one of North Europe's oldest port cities. There are lots of shops and restaurants here. And yes, the wooden houses are just so impressive 😊

Fjord cruise: Visiting Norway is not complete without taking a boat tour to see their gorgeous fjords.

Floibanen: There's no better way to have magnificent views of the city than from the top of Mount Floyen so make to put this on your list when in Bergen.

Saint John's Church: This is the largest church in Bergen.

Sailors Monument: A proof of the Viking's contribution to the world.

Bergen Kunsthall

Byparken: Located in the heart of the city of Bergen, this park features a pond, sculptures and a pavilion among others.

Fish Market, Bergen

Vigeland Park, Oslo

Aker Brygge: The perfect place to shop, dine and have a stroll in Oslo. You can have fresh seafood from the boats (on certain days I guess) so it's perfect for those who love seafood like me 😋

Oslo Opera House

City Hall, Oslo

Holmenkollen National Ski Arena: This is another popular tourist attraction when in Oslo. Inside the ski jump, you'd find the world's oldest ski museum 👍

Trolls: They are cute and are the perfect souvenirs from Norway 😉
