Trip to Kathmandu flying on Etihad A380 First Apartment and Qatar Airways A380 First Class

Last month, Mike and I traveled to Kathmandu, Nepal for the first time to meet our travel partner Helena, owner of Helena India Travels. We are sending our first group to Nepal in autumn and it was a great opportunity to meet her as well as the owners of the hotels where our group would be staying at. We were offered complimentary five nights stay by Mingma, the Nepalese owner of Chhahari Retreat and needless to say, we enjoyed every single day of our stay not only because of the nice room and excellent food in the restaurant but moreso because each one of them treated us like their own family. As for our flight, Mike and I used our remaining American Airlines Advantage miles to fly in first class from Europe to the Indian Sub continent, just before the devaluation in March, which is 80K miles return per person. Here's the full trip report of our trip to Nepal and I hope that thru this, more people would consider traveling to this wonderful country in the future!

Reception

Hotel reception

As we were checking in early, I was kind of hesitant to approach the reception desk but still did so. I was greeted by Manuela, a very friendly receptionist who informed us that our room was ready and that it would be on the third floor. Cool! It is not the highest floor (5th floor being the highest) but still, we were thankful that we could check in early as we were planning to explore the city. Thanks Manuela!

CONCLUSION

I've stayed in a few Hilton hotels which are located near the airport including Hilton Helsinki Airport, Hilton Narita Tokyo and Double Tree by Hilton Mexico City Airport and I have to say that the Hilton London Heathrow Airport is by far the best airport hotel I've stayed at. I thought the design of the hallway was cool and that our room was actually very nice specially the illuminated minibar. The food offering in the Executive Lounge both during afternoon snacks and evening cocktails were very good. The extensive food selection from the breakfast buffet was impressive. Unfortunately, we did not have the time to enjoy their outdoor pool but hopefully we could do it on our next visit. And of course, the staff in the reception and in the restaurant were very friendly. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel and would definitely recommend it to other travelers looking for an airport hotel at London Heathrow.
