Trip to Budapest and Berlin in February

A couple of weeks ago, I traveled to Budapest and stayed there for three nights. I stayed at both Hilton properties and then on my way back to Stockholm, I spent one night in Berlin. I flew with Lufthansa via Munich in economy class so I did not include any flight reviews but I was able to visit a few lounges along the way. From Berlin, I flew on SAS in economy class but with my Star Alliance gold card, I was able to visit the Lufthansa Senator Lounge in Berlin.

Last week, I was able to visit Berlin for the first time and even if the weather was not that perfect, I was still able to enjoy my short stay and visit a lot of attractions. Here are some of the places I visited and which I would recommend to those visiting Berlin but with limited time.

Brandenburg Gate is probably the most known landmark in Berlin and is simply not to be missed.

Berlin Cathedral: The inside is really beautiful and for the entrance fee of 7 Euros, is really worth a visit. You also get great views of the Reichstag Building and the town hall among others from the dome walkway.

Town Hall of Berlin (Rotes Rathaus): This picture was actually taken from the dome walkway of the Berlin Cathedral.

Reichstag Building: Due to limited time, I was not able to visit the dome but that would be on top of my list the next time I visit Berlin.

Alexanderplatz: One of the most known public squares in Berlin located close to the TV tower.

Fernsehturm de Berlin: Constructed between 1965 and 1969, this television tower is simply not to be missed when in Berlin.

Saint Nicholas' Church: I was not able to visit this church which is the oldest church in Berlin although I was able to see it from the dome of the Berlin Cathedral.

Victory Column or Siegessäule: Took this photo from the Brandenburg Gate and hope to visit it next time.

Berlin Wall: This is just a small part of the wall located near Checkpoint Charlie.

Checkpoint Charlie: This is one of the best ways to experience history at close range.

Topographie Des Terrors: This is definitely not to be missed since aside for it being free to the public, you learn a lot about what happened during the Nazi period.

Martin Gropius Bau: Located near the Topography of Terror museum, this well known exhibition hall was originally a museum of applied arts.

Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe: Also known as the Holocaust Memorial, this memorial is designed by architect Peter Eisenman.

East Side Gallery: At about 1.3 km in length, looking at all these graffiti is surely not to be missed.
