Check in

The Asiana Airlines first class check in area was quite empty when I came.

First Class Lounge

Check in process went smoothly and I headed directly to the First Class Lounge after passing the security control.

Boarding, gate 43

After enjoying my time at the Asiana First Class Lounge, I decided to head to the boarding gate about 2:15pm. Boarding started on time in Gate 43 with a separate queue for premium class passengers as well as those with status.

First Class Cabin

First impression: this aircraft was really very new and everything looked fresh and clean. The first class cabin on the Airbus 380 has 12 seats located on the lower deck with a 1-2-1 configuration. Only two of the seats were occupied that day.

Seat 2K

Welcome to my suite, 2K 😍

I was welcomed by the purser immediately after settling in to my seat and I asked if I could take pictures of the cabin. Afterwards, I was given the pajamas which were not the same ones I have received on my previous flights with them. It look like they were specially for the Airbus 380, the same goes with their amenity kits which were from Salvatorre Ferragamo instead of the usual Bulgari items.

I boarded early (well it was intentional) so I could take lots of pictures of the cabin. Normally they escort their first class passengers from the lounge to the gate a little later. The good thing was that we were only two passengers on the cabin and that the purser have asked a flight attendant to tour me around. I went first to the upper deck where the business class cabin was located. First, I visited the lounge area which reminded me of the one Thai Airways have on their superjumbo.

Then, I continued to the business class cabin which was also nice. I was told not to take pictures of the passengers so I went further at the back where the seats were empty.

Then, I came back to my seat really happy after the tour. I started inspecting the different parts of my suite starting with the right side of my seat where the headphone socket and entertainment controls were located.

The blanket, headphones, slippers and amenity kits were all placed on the ottoman in front of me.

The Asiana Airlines First Class amenity kit on the A380 consisted of skin care products from Salvatorre Ferragamo.

The seat control looks like an ipad mini;)

And of course, the largest screen in the sky: this is 32 inches wide and with high resolution.

After being given the Arrival Card, I was asked for my pre-departure beverage and I chose a glass of Charles Heidsieck which was served with warm nuts.

While waiting for departure, I thought I would change into my pajamas. I noticed that the slippers were also different from the ones they used to give on their other aircraft so I am guessing this is exclusive for Airbus 380.

The closet for my shirt and pants.

Hot towel

Dining

Asiana Airlines First Class menu card and wine list

Beef Bar with Truffle and Balsamico Sauce

Caviar 😋

Fresh King Crab Meat with Scallop and Cocktail Sauce

The Pumpkin Carrot Soup was so good. The other choice was Clear Onion Soup with Cheese Crouton.

Caesar Salad

Raspberry Sherbet

For my main course, I chose the Panfried Seabass with Seafood Tomato Sauce which was phenomenal. The other choices were Wagyu Tenderloin with Peppercorn Sauce, Sepia Risotto and Chicken Stuffed with Ricotta Cheese, Vegetable and Champagne Rose Sauce.

Rouy, Asiago, Gorgonzola

Tea selection

For my dessert, I had a chocolate cake and a cup of ginseng tea.

After the dinner service, I decided to take pictures of the lavatory located on the front right side of the cabin.

Then, turn down service was made by one of the flight attendants and it was time to have a goodnight's sleep.

As I was not sleepy yet, I continued watching X-Men from the film selection.

About four hours before landing, I woke up and I thought I would try something from their Refreshments Menu and ordered Ramen Noodles (not spicy) which tasted excellent. This was actually the first time I have ordered in the middle of the flight since all my previous long flights on Asiana, I would only take the dinner and the breakfast service.

I was also given a hot towel after the meal.

For my breakfast, I had fresh fruit and a cup of green tea.

Then, I had some yogurt and a selection of breakfast bread.

For the main course, I had the Omelet with Potato Roesti and Provencal Tomato which was really good. The other choice was Caramelized Onion Tart with Bacon.

We arrived on time at the Los Angeles International Airport giving me enough time for my connecting flight to Las Vegas.

CONCLUSION

This flight was definitely one of the best I've had lately. I have flown a few times on Asiana in first class and I always get the same topnotch service and excellent food. The new and fresh Airbus 380 made it even more exciting for me since my previous flights with Asiana were all on their Boeing 747s. Whenever I am booked on an Asiana flight, I just feel relaxed and comfortable because I know that they will take care of me throughout the flight. To all the cabin crew on this flight, Kamsahamnida 🙇
